Industrial Equipment Limited was incorporated in 1962 and later, became part of the Chibote Group, to operate as distributors for Ingersoll Rand equipment and spare-parts, in Zambia. In 1994, the company was taken over by Mr Gilbert Temba, the then Chief Executive of the Chibote Group and diversified its business portfolio to procure the franchise for Caterpillar material handling equipment. The principal business of Industrial Equipment Ltd became supply of Caterpillar material handling equipment and mining tyres to the mines. Historically, Industrial Equipment has supplied and supported the mining industry in Zambia for the past 25 years, and captured 80% of the market for Lift Trucks in Zambia with a Caterpillar Lift Truck population of about 600 units in the country, at a particular point in time.
The company has its own premises in Kitwe, besides other properties in Lusaka. The Kitwe property houses a two storeyed office block, a large warehouse, and a spacious fully equipped workshop. The company also has bonded warehouse facilities. We supply new, second hand and refurbished Units. Over 80% service parts, are available ex-stock at our warehouse in Kitwe, Copperbelt – Zambia. The company is managed by a team of competent professionals with 20 to 30 years experience in their respective fields of specialisation. The team is functioning under the overall supervision of an Executive Chairman who is a Mining Engineer by profession. The senior management team consists of Managing Director, Financial Controller Marketing Manager and General Sales Manager. The support personnel include fully trained product support and service personnel to meet all requirements of “after sales service.

The Manufacturing of gland packing facilities and other services we can offer are second to none and we would like to emphasise the fact that we strive to do the best on the market. We have over the years specialised in this field and can confidently say we are among the best in the industry. We offer free samples for testing on all our product lines. We guarantee availability of all the necessary products at any given moment, and carry 50% of all stock items for various products. Availability off the counter is about 80%.
